Smart contact lens replaces damaged iris
One of the inspiring stories to emerge from the AA Tower is that of Azalea Vision. The project started as a PhD student's pitch in a small room within Ghent University. Azalea Vision, now housed in the AA Tower, developed an electronic contact lens that functions as an artificial iris. Picture it as an electronic contact lens that can alter the size of the pupil. Something remarkable: the lens not only regulates how much light can enter, but also the depth of field, just like a real camera.This innovation, born from research in the cleanrooms of the Technology Park, represents the tower’s role as a cradle of ideas that have the potential to change the world.
